The Old Schoolhouse: Hey Mama! Print Schoolhouse Planner 2016-2017 (Review)

Hey Mama! Schoolhouse Planner 2016-2017 Review
Disclosure: I was given a complimentary copy of the Hey Mama! Print Schoolhouse Planner 2016-2017 from The Old Schoolhouse through Schoolhouse Review Crew in exchange for a honest review.

I'm so excited to get started planning with the new Hey Mama! Print Schoolhouse Planner 2016-2017 from The Old Schoolhouse. I love that the school planner is dated from July 2016 through June 2017. This helps me still plan not only our homeschool lessons in the summer (we are homeschooling year round this year as there have been many events happen), but also helps me to keep organized with all the other things I have going on. It helps me to keep track of our activities, events, my blogging schedule, and also any household or family appointments.

The school planner comes with a word of encouragement (the Hey Mama letter shown below) and one page of Notes before the start of each calendar month. I use this Notes pages as our Reading Log for the year. The state I live in is really big on keeping track of what books are being read, and also enjoys seeing what months they are read in to see the progress of the child throughout the year. Having this Notes page is very helpful because it is at the beginning of each month, and the encouragement in the Hey Mama letter is amazing. It's nice to read those encouraging words on the hard days.

This planner also has about 35 weeks of planning pages, but the nice thing about this is the title columns and rows are left blank. The top five column headings could be for the days of the week, or for each child. The rows could be used for each subject, or for each child. I love the flexibility of this, because I think we all plan in a way that works best for our families and may have different subjects we are teaching. The Old Schoolhouse also allows copying of the planning pages, if you need additional pages for throughout the year.

In the back of the planner, are pages dedicated to monthly, semester and yearly goals. There are also Attendance Sheets, a list for Books Read This Year, Curriculum Planning Sheets, Homeschooling Contact List, Academic Transcripts, and a Checklist for the Skills Learned. I enjoyed that there was scripture and also some fun facts such as the list of the U.S. Presidents, U.S. states and their capitals and some writing prompt ideas for the year.

Did you know if you have or sign up for a membership at SchoolhouseTeachers.com, there is a digital version of this planner available free included with your membership? I did a review on this wonderful membership a few months ago (check out my review here), and it is amazing everything that is included with this incredible membership!

I think this school planner is a wonderful resource for homeschool and classroom organization.  There are so many events and activities throughout the year, and it's nice to have a place to keep it all together. I enjoyed all the extras as well such as the Academic Transcript, Attendance Sheets, scripture and encouraging letters, and the fun facts. I would definitely recommend this school planner to any homeschool parent, as well as a classroom teacher.

  2. I love the layout of the planner - so many are way too prescriptive with titles, etc, already filled out. Thanks so much for linking up with #FridayFrivolity! :)
