Week 7: Focusing on What's Important

Wow, we had a crazy week last week.  We were hit with all kinds of distractions and unexpected things but God is good, and we managed to get through the week and have Him shower us with blessings after such a rough week.  I took this week to focus on my sons and my family so we read many books and watched some great movies based on books.  Sometimes it is good to have weeks like this because it really makes me evaluate what my priorities are and what is most important.  Hope you all are well and thanks as always for stopping by :)

Thursday - Today, we read Chapter 6 from Believe Storybook and read about Abraham becoming the "father of many nations," and how he and Sarah had a baby named Isaac when they were older and past child bearing years.

Monday - The boys went through and cleaned out some of their toys they haven't been playing with.  Infinity 3.0 just came out and they decided they would rather have that, than the toys they have not played with.   We took their toys to a consignment shop and also had a yard sale with Grandma on Saturday, and they made enough money to go to the store and pick out their 3.0 Starter Set.  I am proud of them that they learned the concept of not holding onto stuff that others may enjoy, and also the work they did to get what they wanted.  They are growing up way too fast!

Thursday - Because cupcakes make everything better!  We had some fun measuring, mixing and eating some homeschool Math today!

Friday - B did Lesson 17 Shapes and Letters at the Beach on ABCmouse, and learned how to do some addition equations from 0 to 7.

Wednesday - B measured and traced around how big one of his favorite stuffed animals is.

Friday - G did Lesson 57 on ABCmouse called Reading: Pets, and he learned about dogs, cats, birds, guinea pigs and fish.

Language Arts:
Monday - B did Lesson 15 Welcome to Grammar Kingdom and Lesson 16 Letter Blends with New Friends on ABCmouse.  B read Ant Man and Room on the Broom all by himself to his brother.  The boys also watched a video based on the book, The Piggy in the Puddle.

Tuesday - Today, we read: Happy Valentines Day, Mouse!, If You Give a Dog a Donut, and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.  The boys also watched a video on Click, Clack Moo, and Owen and Mama Don't Allow on Reading Rainbow on Netflix.

Wednesday - Today, we read about Jack and the Beanstalk.  We also did some story sequencing, fill in the blank ABC sentences and learned how to read and spell new vocabulary: counts, climbs, chops, giants, Jack, Mother, gold, cow, run, sleep, throws, beans, eggs, fruit, wife, eats, cries and smiles.

Thursday - The boys and I read The Big Green Pocketbook, which is also illustrated by Felicia Bond who illustrated the If You Give a Mouse a Cookie booksWe also read a funny story called Runaway Tomato.

Friday - B did Lesson 18 on ABCmouse called More Letter Blends with Friends.  He is using the 1st grade edition this year and I have been very impressed with the content and he is enjoying learning with all the fun videos, stories, fill in the blank puzzles and games.  Some of the blends discussed were bl, cl, gl, s, c, st, pr, dr, and cr.  G also did Lesson 58 Reading The Letter Y.  I am also very proud of him because he is zooming through his lessons and trying to keep up with his brother!

Monday - B wrote a note to his cousin today.

Thursday - The boys had a playdate with their cousins today and got a chance to play outside on the playground.
