Autumn is here, which means pumpkin patches, hay rides and cooler weather. Halloween is not too far away either at this point, and my sons and I were looking for a fun recipe to make. We stumbled upon the Pillsbury Mummy Dogs recipe and decided that looked like an wonderful way to get into the Halloween spirit.
We stopped by Publix and grabbed some ingredients. Here is an awesome coupon to help you save some money if you are looking to try out this recipe:
$1.00 off 2 Pillsbury Crescent Refrigerated Baked Goods Products (good through 10/31/15)
- 1 can of Pillsbury Original Crescent Rolls 8 oz container
- 2 1/2 slices of your favorite cheese (we used Cheddar)
- 1 pack of hot dogs
- mustard (or your favorite hot dog condiment. My boys like ranch on hot dogs!)
- Cooking spray
Step 3: Cut each of the 4 rectangles of dough into 10 strips each, so you will have 40 strips at the end of this. (Great way to work on multiplication!)
Step 4: Wrap 1 hot dog, 1 slice of cheese (which goes on the bottom) and 4 strings of dough to create the Mummy Dog. Make sure to leave some room at the top of the hot dog so you can make a face after it is cooked.
The boys had much fun playing with the dough and trying to wrap the dough around the hot dog and the cheese.
Step 6: Once cool, draw a face onto the Mummy Dog with your favorite condiment. Enjoy!
Here is my oldest son's Mummy Dog with a ranch dressing face!
Here is mine with some mustard!
